Outer Lands · desktop edition
EPTAXY
The whole of Outer Lands, kept on your own machine. The same world, the same ink; the expedition is written to a file instead of a browser, and it stays there.
Version 0.1.0 · Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit

Portable for Windows
No installation. Unpack the folder and run it.
A single archive containing the application and nothing else. Unzip it anywhere you like (a documents folder, an external drive) and run OuterLands.exe from inside. Nothing is written outside that folder: the expedition is saved beside the executable, so the whole thing travels if you move it.

Installer for Windows
Installs normally, with a Start menu entry.
The ordinary Windows setup program. It installs the application, adds it to the Start menu, and registers an uninstaller. The expedition is kept in your user profile under Outer Lands, so it survives reinstalling and updating.

Marginalia
- Windows only
- There is no macOS or Linux build. Everywhere else, the world runs in the browser: the same world, from the plate.
- Unsigned
- These builds carry no code-signing certificate, so Windows SmartScreen will warn you the first time you run one. Choose More info, then Run anyway. If Smart App Control is switched on, Windows will refuse to run them at all, and says so: an application control policy has blocked this file. Nothing here can fix that from the outside; the setting is in Windows Security, under App & browser control.
- WebView2
- The application draws through Microsoft Edge WebView2, which ships with Windows 11 and with up-to-date Windows 10. If it is missing, Windows offers to fetch it.
- Your expedition
- Saved as a plain file you can copy or delete. The portable build keeps it inside its own folder; the installed build keeps it in your user profile. Nothing is uploaded anywhere, and nothing is ever sold.
